The vacancy count went up recently. After a corrigendum on 29 September, 932 more posts were added for Classes 9 to 12, taking the total from 32,388 to 33,320. A 13 October update also made this year’s D.El.Ed passouts eligible.

The biggest blocks are at the senior secondary level — chemistry alone has around 3,695 posts, followed by physics and English. In the middle school level, maths and science has 2,188 posts and English has 1,929.
Reservation for women applies within each category — 50% of the posts in Classes 1 to 8 and 35% of the posts in Classes 9 to 12.

Application Fee
The application fee is ₹100 for all candidates, as fixed by the Bihar government. Candidates who do not provide their Aadhaar number pay an additional ₹200 biometric fee. The fee is payable online through debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI.
Age Limit
- Primary (Classes 1–5) and Middle (Classes 6–8): 18 to 37 years
- Secondary (Classes 9–10) and Senior Secondary (Classes 11–12): 21 to 37 years
- Relaxation in the upper age limit applies for reserved categories as per Bihar government rules.
The age will be calculated on the cut-off date given in the official notification.
Eligibility Criteria
- Primary Teacher (Classes 1–5): Class 12 with D.El.Ed, JBT or B.El.Ed, plus CTET or Bihar TET Paper-I.
- Middle School Teacher (Classes 6–8): Graduation with B.Ed or B.El.Ed, plus CTET or Bihar TET Paper-II.
- Secondary Teacher (Classes 9–10): Graduation in the relevant subject with B.Ed, plus Bihar STET Paper-I.
- Senior Secondary Teacher (Classes 11–12): Post-graduation in the relevant subject with B.Ed, plus Bihar STET Paper-II.
- Bihar domicile is not compulsory — candidates from other states can also apply.
- Candidates who passed the D.El.Ed 2024–26 session examination in 2026 can apply by uploading a web copy of their marksheet (BPSC notice of 13 October 2026).
- Candidates appearing for Bihar STET 2026 may select 2026 as the year of passing and submit the prescribed self-declaration with their application.
